Ruth S. Jackson

Averill Park-Ruth S. Jackson, 78, passed away on Sunday, June 4, 2023 in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loving family. Born and raised in Binghamton, Ruth was the daughter of the late Maurice and Helen Youngs Sokolinsky. A gifted pianist, Ruth played piano from an early age and became her church organist at 14. Her legacy to the world is her gift of teaching music and dance to children, and serving through her music; her personal refrain became “faith through my fingertips.” 

Ruth is survived by her loving husband of almost 54 years Richard E. Jackson; her four children who loved her dearly, Tara (William) Magaw, Alice (Frank Jolley) Jackson-Jolley,  Abigail (Dominick Martin) Jackson, and William (Chris) Jackson; her five loving grandchildren; her brother Robert Sokolinsky, as well as nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A Memorial Service will be celebrated at 4 pm on Saturday, June 10, 2023, at the Church of the Covenant United Methodist 3035 NY 43 Averill Park, NY.

The family will receive friends from 4-7 pm on Friday, June 9 at the Perry-Komdat Funeral Chapel 2691 NY 43 at Glass Lake Averill Park.
