Stephentown- Robert M. Reiter, 61, of Rte. 43, died on Monday November 18, 2013 at his residence surrounded by his family after a long illness. Born and raised in Troy, Bob was the son of the late Thomas B. and Catherine Casey Reiter Sr. and husband of Deborah York Reiter. Bob attended the Troy schools and served in the United States Marine Corp. during the Vietnam War. He had resided in Stephentown for the past 35 years. Bob worked at the Al-Tech Specialty Steel Corp. before taking a job as a mail carrier with the Troy Post Office. After serving with the post office, Bob was appointed to the Director of the Veterans Service Agency for Rensselaer County. He held this position from 1999 until the time of his death. Bob was a member of the Brunswick Elks where he was a past-Exalted Ruler; he was a 35 year member of the Stephentown Fire Dept. and a past president, the Sand Lake Kiwanis, a member of the the Veterans of Stephentown, the Marine Corp League and other numerous veteran organizations Survivors in addition to his wife include his children Seth D. Reiter of Wynantskill, Luke M. (Erin) Reiter of Poestenkill and Emily C. (Matthew Sr.) Wicks of Stephentown, his brothers Bruce T. Reiter of NYC, Paul H. Reiter of Johnsonville, Thomas B. Reiter of Troy and Vincent Reiter of Watervliet, his father in law Kenneth E. (the late Helen) York of East Nassau and his grandchildren Kendall, Maddia, Lucas, Daniel, Matthew Jr., Cooper and Vincent. Funeral Thursday 10 am at St. Henry’s Church 39 Old Rte. 66 Averill Park where a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered. Interment with military honors will follow at the East Nassau Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited and may also call at St. Henry’s Church on Wednesday 3-7 pm.
