East Nassau- Robert (Bob) J. Butler Sr., 67, of Rt. 66 Hoags Corners died on Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at Albany Medical Center Hospital after an extended illness. Born in Troy, NY Bob was the son of the late Frank and Mary Clock Butler and husband of 45 years to Linda Gorman Butler. Bob was a graduate of Troy High School. In 1968 he entered the Air Force where he turned that into a 20 year career. Bob and his family resided on numerous bases around the country and overseas where they had great adventures and plenty of stories to share with family and friends. Bob also served in Thailand during the Vietnam War. Bob was Honorably Discharged in 1988 with a rank of Master Sergeant as a retiree from Plattsburgh Air Force Base. The family moved to Stephentown, NY right after retirement and have lived in East Nassau since 2002. Bob was an avid Golfer and played at Frear Park where he was secretary of the Mahrs Golf League. Bobs greatest pleasures beside golf was playing poker and spending time with his family who he cherished.
Robert was the father of the late Charles M. Butler.
Survivors in addition to his wife include his children Robert J. Butler Jr. of Petersburgh, Phillip M. (Jamie) Butler and Mary Rose Butler of Stephentown, his sister Helen L. (Tom) Finton of Tucson, AZ, his brothers Frank (Olga) Butler Jr. of Alamogordo, NM and Donald (Michele) Butler of Carlsbad, NM his grandchildren Kayla L. Nelson and Ethan M. Butler as well as many nieces, great nieces, nephews and great nephews whom all loved Bob and his boisterous loud sense of humor.
Family and friends are invited to call at the Perry-Komdat Funeral Chapel 2691 NY 43 at Glass Lake Averill Park on Sunday 1-4 p.m.
