Wildwood, Fla.- Robert E. Carlson, 79, of Seminole Path, a longtime resident of West Sand Lake, died suddenly on Sunday, January 14, 2018 after being stricken doing his normal morning routine. Bob was born in Roscoe, NY and was the son of the late Robert A. and Edna Schleiermacher Carlson and the beloved husband of Mary Flint Carlson. Bob grew up in Roscoe was educated in Livingston Manor lived in Fultonville for a time had moved to Troy in 1962 and to West Sand Lake in 1966 and to Florida in 2010. Bob was Veteran of the Army having served from 1958 – 1962. After his service with the Army Bob went to work for the Watervliet Arsenal where he was a Packaging Specialist. He retired on April 1, 1994 after 32 years of service. Bob was a Life Member of the Sullivan – Jones VFW Post in Poestenkill and was a member of the Continental Country Club Honor Guard in Florida. While living in West Sand Lake Bob could be often seen walking the sidewalks of Rte. 43, which was part of his daily routine.
Survivors in addition to his wife include his children Theresa (Kenneth) Gile of Averill Park, Michele (John) Curtis of Averill Park and Erich (Sharron) Carlson of West Sand Lake, his grandchildren Alyson Gile, John Eddy and Mary Eddy.
Relatives and friends are invited to a Memorial Service 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 10 at the Perry-Komdat Funeral Chapel 2691 NY 43 at Glass Lake Averill Park, followed by a 1:30 p.m. Inurnment Service with Military Honors at the Gerald B.H.
