Sand Lake- Paulette G. Smyth, 69, of Route 43 Averill Park,NY, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 29, 2016 at her residence after a long illness with her family at her side. Paulette was born in Troy, the daughter of the late Henry B. Wagar and Grace (Teal) Carr and the wife of Charles H. “Chick” Smyth Jr.
Paulette grew up in Brunswick and was a graduate of the Tamarac High School. She had resided in West Stephentown before moving to Sand Lake in 1982. She had worked for the former Covert Mfg. Co., Sweetbrook Nursing Home and had retired in 2013 from the NYS Retirement System in Albany where she had been a Disabilities Examiner. Paulette has spent her spare time traveling with family and friends, gardening, canning and sharing her famous pickle recipe in addition to spending time with her grandchildren.
Paulette was the sister of the late Patricia Wagar Berry and Steven Wagar.
Survivors in addition to her husband, include her daughter Paula M (Roger) Laime of Malta, NY, her son William A. (Margherita) Hoffman of Hinsdale, MA, her sister Nancy (Douglas) Mockler of Wynantskill, her brothers Henry B. (Joanne) Wagar Jr. of Stephentown, NY, Raymond “Dutch” Carr of Stephentown, NY and Matthew (Lisa) Carr of New Lebanon, NY, her step children Michael Smyth of Averill Park, NY, Brenda (Don) Nelson of Cypress, TX and Susan (Ian) Tocher of Atlanta GA, her sister in law Renere Wagar of Averill Park and her grandchildren, Abigail and Olivia Laime, Erik Hoffman, Sam Nelson and Robert Tocher. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and grandnieces and nephews.
Paulette’s family sincerely appreciates the care and support while at home by family, friends and the entire Hospice team.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call 9-11 a.m. at the Perry-Komdat Funeral Chapel 2691 NY 43 at Glass Lake Averill Park on Saturday September 3rd, followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m.
