Sand Lake- Patricia Marie Walsh of Sand Lake, beloved sister, aunt and friend passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 23, 2023 at her home on her mountain of Taborton.
Born in Yonkers, NY, daughter of the late Francis and Estelle Piekarski Walsh, Patricia lived in Yonkers until she was sixteen. At that time, her parents moved her from her city life to the quiet of the upstate country life - a dirt road leading up a mountain to a house surrounded by pastures. No trolleys passing through. Pat protested quite loudly, but she reluctantly moved into her new house and fell in love with nature, the birds and the quiet of the country. She called Taborton her home all her life.
Patricia graduated from Siena College in Loudonville, N.Y. with a bachelor’s degree in accounting. She used that degree throughout her career at the Watervliet Arsenal in Watervliet, N.Y., working in the Procurement Bureau - making many dear friends and sharing many jokes.
Patricia was a devoted parishioner of St. Henry’s Church in Averill Park. Not only nurturing her spiritual life there, but also singing in the choir, decorating the altar and helping in many other ways. St. Henry’s for many years was her second home.
Patricia’s kindness and caring brightened and strengthened the lives of the many people she met and helped. Pat’s family loved her deeply and could always count on her being there for them with open arms.
Patricia was the cherished sister of Cdr. USN Ret. Ronald Walsh of Sag Harbor, Dianne (Michael) Walsh Hampton of Rensselaerand Kathleen (Howard) Weinberg of Virginia Beach; aunt of Randolph Peet and several other nephews, nieces, grand nephews and grandnieces. Patricia was predeceased by her sisters Agnes (John) Marona of Millbrook, Alexandria (George) Peet of Sand Lake, Dolores (Ralph) Merone of Poughquag, Joane Walsh of California, Edwina (Ken Gatton) Walsh of Latham and by her brother Paul Walsh of Sand Lake.
Patricia’s family is most grateful to her home caregivers for the happiness and comfort they brought into Pat’s life each day. They also extend their appreciation to the Community Hospice staff for the professional, kind care given to Patricia.
