Petersburgh- Patricia J. Smith, 86, of Rte. 346, a longtime resident of Sand Lake, passed away peacefully at her son’s home on Monday, April 8, 2024 after a long illness. Born and raised in Troy, Pat was the daughter of the late Irving and Eleanor Will Millington and the beloved wife of the late Raymond H. Smith. Pat was a 1956 graduate of Troy High and had moved to Sand Lake in 1960 where she remained until 2018 when she moved to Petersburgh.
Pat was a Life Member of the Sand Lake Ambulance being a dispatcher for many years, was a member of the Sand Lake Baptist Church and had also worked for Jiffy - Mart in Averill Park. After that period of time, she happily was able to watch and care for her granddaughters on a daily basis as they grew up throughout the years. She and Ray had for years raised Llamas which has now passed to their son.
Pat and Ray resided on Glass Lake in Averill Park for over 50 plus years. Pat enjoyed the time she had in Petersburgh on the farm, being able to visit with her animal friends and loved watching all of the birds of her bird feeders.
Pat's most cherished memories were spending time with family and friends, especially with all her loving granddaughters. She also cherished many memories of traveling together with family cross country, cruise, and camping.
Pat’s family wishes to thank everyone at the Eddy Visiting Nurses, especially Shannon for the care given to Pat over the years.
Survivors include her daughters Tamie (David) Carpentier and Kim (Kevin) Rooney both of Averill Park her son and caregiver Todd (Paul Hastings) Smith of Petersburgh, her grandchildren Megan, Breanna, Sierra, Makayla and Hannah and her great granddaughters Natalie and Nora. Pat was the sister of the late Richard and Robert Millington.
Relatives and friends are invited to call 1-4 pm on Sunday, April 14 at the Perry-Komdat Funeral Chapel 2691 NY 43 at Glass Lake followed by a service at 4pm. Burial will take place 11 am on Monday, April 15, 2024 at the Sand Lake Union Cemetery.
