Poestenkill- Mary P. Schriner, 88, of Plank Road, died suddenly Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at Samaritan Hospital after being stricken at home. Born in Klawock, Alaska, Mary was the daughter of the late Mariano and Maggie Paul Kato and the wife of the late Charles “Chub” Schriner. Mary was raised and educated in Alaska and she met Chub while he was serving in the Coast Guard. They were married in Alaska and moved to Staten Island were Chub finished his Coast Guard obligation. They moved back to Poestenkill, Chub’s hometown in 1953 and resided there the rest of their lives. Mary was a homemaker and enjoyed her Bingo nights, her visits to the Casinos and scratch off tickets.
Mary was the mother of Charlene (Jim) Cooper of Poestenkill, sister of Teresa Stitt of Juneau, Alaska and several nieces and nephews. Mary was predeceased by several brothers and sisters.
Funeral Services will be private with burial in the Brookside Cemetery, Barbersville.
