Averill Park- Marilyn C. Kern, 83, a longtime resident of Buy Way, passed away on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at the Eddy Memorial Geriatric Center after a long illness. Born and raised in Sand Lake, Marilyn was the daughter of the late George H. and E. Iona Reinke Dobert and wife of the late George A. Kern. Marilyn was a lifelong resident of the area and was a 1955 graduate of the Averill Park High School. She worked for the J.L. Thompson Drug Co. in Troy before raising her children. Marilyn was involved in her children’s many activities while they were growing up. Marilyn was a lifelong member of the Zion’s UCC in Taborton where she was also a Sunday School Teacher. Marilyn was a member of the Taborton Home Bureau. Survivors include her children Michael (Linda) Kern of Rockville, CT, Leo Kern of Averill Park, Karen (Paul) King of Poestenkill, Timothy (Kathy) Kern of Yorktown, VA, Elaine (Clint) Peterson of Stephentown and David (Heather) Kern of Averill Park. Marilyn was the sister of Loren Dobert of Sand Lake, Elton Dobert of Schroon Lake, Floyd Dobert of Lumber City, GA, Wayne Dobert of Valatie, Joyce Zyniecki of Warrensburg and the late Eugene, Laverne C., and Robert Dobert, Elsie Cann and Eleanor M. Bubie. Also survived by 12 grandchildren and 2 great granddaughters Services will be private with burial in the Zion’s UCC Cemetery.
