Maribeth St. Germain

d. June 5, 2018

West Sand Lake-It is with a heavy heart that we announce the gracious passing of Maribeth St. Germain (nee Devane) on Tuesday, June 05, 2018 at her home in West Sand Lake. Beth is survived by her husband, John, her daughter, Caitlin, her mom, her brothers and sisters, and many other aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
The courageous manner and unwavering resolve Beth exhibited during her years-long battle with cancer was an inspiration to all who knew her. Through good times and bad, her grace and character, fueled by an endless optimism and drive for life, set the bar for fighting adversity with patience, spirit, and dignity.
Beth’s hobbies included gardening, concerts, time at the beach or on the water, and, in her younger years, watching her husband race at Lebanon Valley. But her true passion in life was time spent with family and friends. Whether at her house or at the lake, Beth enjoyed the company of all and the simple pleasures of a good conversation and a hearty laugh. As her daughter, nieces, and nephews began to grow up, one and all would flock to Beth’s house for food, games, jokes and laughter. Her title as The Cool Mom (and Aunt), not only to her relations, but to their friends as well, was a role she wholly accepted and enjoyed.
Free of spirit, and comfortable with herself, Beth’s honesty, kindness and understanding made her a friend and confidant to all who came into her life. A devoted wife and a diligent mother, Beth worked tirelessly and gave freely to make the lives of all she touched just that much better. Her ability to balance optimism and pragmatism, and blessed with her Irish gift of bluntness, properly measured, made Beth an invaluable dispenser of sage advice and someone who you could always turn to in time of need.
While all who knew Beth will struggle with the sorrow and loss, in time, all those whose lives she touched will come to know and understand the blessing of having had this truly remarkable person in their lives.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday, 10:30 am June 9 at St. Henry’s Church 39 Old Rte. 66 Averill Park.
