Poestenkill- Ligia E. Sanchez Vega Burridge, 82, of Flint Drive died on Sunday, February 21, 2016 at her residence after a short illness. Born in Panama, Ligia was the daughter of the late Segundo Vasconez and Mercedes Vasconez Vega and the former wife of the late John A. Burridge. Ligia met John while John was serving in the Navy and they were married and returned to the States in 1954 where they eventually settled in Poestenkill. Ligia attended HVCC and worked for the Watervliet Arsenal- Benet Labs where she was a Planning Technician for 23 years and had retired in 1995. After her retirement Ligia went to work at the Wal-Mart in East Greenbush where she was a people greeter for 17 years, retiring in 2013. Ligia would also volunteer at the Samaritan Hospital Day Care. She was a former member of the Sgt. Walter Adams American Legion Post Ladies Auxillary in Averill Park and also enjoyed reading and traveling, especially to visit her family in Panama.
Survivors include her daughters Patricia (Keith) Burridge Ackner and Barbara (Mark Berner) Burridge both of Poestenkill and Linda (Jimmy) Singleton of Little Elm, TX; her brother Carlos Vasconez; her sister Gladys Lescure both of Panama, her grandchildren Matthew and Alexandra Berner and Dylan and Shane Singleton her great grandson Mason Berner along with cousins, nephews and nieces in Panama.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Perry-Komdat Funeral Chapel 2691 NY 43 at Glass Lake Averill Park 4-7 p.m. Thursday February 25, 2016 followed by a service at 7 p.m.
