Leona “Lee” Toniatti

d. January 1, 2019

Poestenkill- Leona “Lee” Toniatti, 91, of Rte. 355, was called home to Jesus on Tuesday, January 1, 2019. Lee passed suddenly at her home. Born in North Adams, MA., on August 1, 1927, Lee was the daughter of the late Philias and Leona Mineau Paquette and the loving wife for 68 years to the late Alfred M. Toniatti.
Shortly after WW II, Lee and Al married on February 23, 1946 and moved to Troy where they lived for many years until moving to Poestenkill. After several years due to Al being transferred, they moved to Mesa AZ. and after retiring moved back to Poestenkill.
Lee was a homemaker for most of her life, with the exception of the years spent as a seamstress for the Marshall Ray Corporation in Troy. Given her ability to sew well, she made her children’s clothes when they were young. Through the years she was a super supportive Mom. She attended school functions and never missed one of Don’s baseball games. She enjoyed the more simple pleasures in life. She was and avid reader, she loved bowling, crocheting and baseball. She was a loyal Mets fan and supported them no matter the outcome. Her family will remember how much she loved her front porch, it was her game room and her “go to” place for family, friends, scrabble and puzzles. She was also very proud of the deck she had built, it provided hours of contentment for her. She said “it doesn’t get any better than this”. The bright sun, sitting under the canopy and feeling the warmth of the summer breeze, conversing and watching the cars go by. But, above all and most important to her, was her faith, her devotion to the Blessed Virgin, and her family.
Lee was and always will be the glue that held the family together.
Lee was a longtime communicant of St. Jude the Apostle Church in Wynantskill and a very special thank you to Betty Zemanick, who for several years provided her with the Holy Eucharist and enjoyable conversations every week.
Survivors include her devoted children Pamela (Ted) Craver of Clifton Park, Donald (Lila) Toniatti of Poestenkill and Carol (Ed Falzo) Gibbs of Wynantskill. She was predeceased by her granddaughter Amanda Gibbs, and is survived by eight wonderful grandchildren Michael, William, Richard and Daniel Craver, Ronald and Brian Toniatti, Tricia Gibbs and Jamie Ormsby. She is also survived by several great grandchildren
