Troy-Lavern C. “Boots” Quell, 104, of Harris Road a longtime resident of Averill Park, died on Thursday, January 30, 2014 at the Community Hospice at Samaritan Hospital after a short illness. Born in Sand Lake, Lavern was the son of the late Charles F. and Minnie M. Raver Quell and husband of the late Marie Walsh Quell. Lavern had worked for the former Faith Mills in Averill Park until its closing. He had been a Knitting Machine Operator. He had also been a caretaker for the Butler family in Averill Park. He had served in the Army during WW II serving in the Signal Corp. Lavern and Marie had wintered in Florida for a number of years and Lavern had moved to Troy in 1998. Lavern was a longtime communicant of St. Henry’s Church in Averill Park and was a former member of the Signal Service Association. Lavern enjoyed fishing on the lakes in the Averill Park area. Lavern was the brother of the late Charles F. Quell II, Gilbert Quell and Margaret Albanese. Survivors include several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Perry-Komdat Funeral Chapel 2691 NY 43 at Glass Lake Averill Park on Monday 10-11 am followed by a service at 11 am.
