Averill Park-It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Keith Alan Houston Sr., 59, who left us on August 18, 2024, at his home in Averill Park, NY.
Keith was born on July 18, 1965, in Pittsfield, MA, to Samuel L. Houston and Rosemary Geerholt Houston. He lived in Stephentown for one year, before the family moved to Taborton, NY in 1966, where he grew up with his large family.
Keith was a graduate of Averill Park High School, and worked as a Purchasing Agent in the Heavy Trucks Field for his entire career. He started out with Becker’s Heavy Duty Truck Parts, and then moved onto Fleet Pride Heavy Equipment, and finally with Tracey Road Equipment, in Albany, NY.
Keith was predeceased by his father, Samuel L. Houston, and his infant son Keith A. Houston, Jr. He was also predeceased by his beloved pooch and best friend, Casper, who will be laid to rest with Keith.
He is survived by his mother, Rosemary Geerholt Bradway, of Taborton, NY, his sisters Brenda (Scott) Saunders of Berlin, NY, Gail (Steve) Harte of Granville, NY, and Lori (Dave) Safford, of Troy, NY. Keith also leaves behind his three brothers Lyle S. Houston of Wynantskill, Jack Bradway of Sand Lake, NY, and Justin (Kirstie) Bradway, of Averill Park, NY. He also leaves behind a Step-Daughter, Trinity McCulloch, and his five Grand Children. He also leaves behind many Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins.
Lastly, he leaves behind his best friend Pam Riberdy of, Loudonville, NY.
Keith loved his family and friends and always made time for them, long before himself. He loved to bowl, his visits to the casinos with Pam, the New Hampshire Seashore, football (especially the Buffalo Bills and the associated betting activities). Keith enjoyed snowmobiling and riding his motorcycle. He loved nature and keeping the tradition of making evergreen burial blankets for all of the family’s deceased relative’s graves, every December.
He is already greatly missed.
Relatives and friends are invited to call Sunday, August 25, 2024 from 11-2pm at Perry-Komdat Funeral Chapel 2691 NY 43 at Glass Lake, Averill Park by a Funeral Service with Rev. Trygve Tomlinson officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Zion UCC Cemetery, in Taborton, NY.
The family ask donations be made to the Community HospiceGift Processing Center 310 So. Manning Blvd. Albany, NY 12208, and/or The Mohawk Hudson Humane Society 3 Oakland Ave. Menands, NY 12204 in Menands, NY, in Keith’s name.
