Poestenkill- Judith B. Maddalla Dore, 70, of Nel Dore Drive, Wynantskill passed away suddenly on Tuesday, August 8, 2023 at the Samaritan Hospital after being stricken ill at home. Born in Troy, Judy was the daughter of the late Robert Cedar and Grace Dorr Cedar and wife of Edward V. Dore. Judy grew up in the Averill Park area and was educated in the Averill Park Schools. Judy resided in Wynantskill for a number of years and after the sudden death of her husband William Maddalla in 2006. She received her Associate Degree at HVCC and worked as a medical transcriptionist for area doctors and area hospitals. She also drove medical vans for area companies. Her last job from which she retired in 2021 was working at Conifer Park in Glenville where she was a drug counselor. Judy was a communicant of St. Jude the Apostle Church a member of the Hendrick Hudson Fish & Game Club, a Girl Scout leader for many years, volunteered at St. Judes School, played her flute in area bands and churches, enjoyed flyfishing, Kayaking, camping and traveling. She and Ed had just recently been on a cruise to Alaska.
Survivors in addition to her husband include her daughters Cariann (Victor) Concepcion of Webster, NY, and Cassandra Maddalla of Cohoes, her brothers David (Rita) and Stephen (Susan) Cedar both of No. Greenbush, her sister Karen Cedar of Lebanon, NY, her grandchildren Grace, Jordan and Haylie “Ray”, her stepmother Wanda Cedar of Long Island, brother-in-law Robert (Marie) Dore, sister-in-law Barbara Southard and her children Erin McCue and Mark Southard.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call 4-7 pm on Monday, August 14, 2023 at the Perry-Komdat Funeral Chapel 2691 NY 43at Glass Lake, Averill Park.
Judy’s family request donations in her memory be made to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society 3 Oakland Ave., Menands, NY 12204.
