Ilse A. Grant

West Stephentown- Ilse A. Grant, 99, of South Road, Averill Park, died on Thursday, May 23, 2024 at the Riverside Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Castleton after a brief illness. 

Born on May 13, 1925 in Montevideo Uruguay, South America, Ilse was the daughter of the late Theodore and Edith Meisen Baumann. The Baumann family came to the US in 1927 settling in New York City. They moved to the area in 1941 and Ilse was a 1943 graduate of the Averill Park High School. Ilse held jobs in New York City and the Capital District. She had retired from Caterpillar Tractor in Albany where she had been a secretary-bookkeeper. She was a past member of the Sand Lake Seniors and enjoyed crocheting and reading, suspense books being her favorite and enjoyed vacationing at Cape Cod.

Survivors include her sons Richard (Cheri) New of Lafayette, NY, David (Holly) New of Poestenkill and Larry New of West Stephentown, 14 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited and may call 9:30 -10:30 am on Wednesday May 29, 2024 at the Perry-Komdat Funeral Chapel 2691 NY 43 at Glass Lake Averill Park followed by a service at 10:30am. Burial will follow the service at the Hillside Cemetery West Stephentown.
