Berlin- Harold D. Jones, 89, of East Road, Dyken Pond died on Friday, September 2, 2016 at the Stratton Veterans Medical Center in Albany after a short illness. Born in Troy, Harold was the son of the late Elmer and Indiana Bickford Jones and husband of 65 years to Minnie Stewart Jones. Harold was raised in Berlin and entered the Army in 1945 and spent time in Japan. For the next 21 years Harold remained in the Army and was discharged and retired on August 31, 1966. At the time of his retirement he was a recruiter stationed in Newark, NJ. Upon returning to the area and settling again in Berlin Harold worked for the Garden Way Co. where he was a Warehouse Foreman and he also worked part-time for Wal Mart in East Greenbush. In 1993 Harold started to travel in his motorhome and he enjoyed a good find at a flea market. He was a former member of the Brunswick Elks, enjoyed square dancing, solitaire, hunting and fishing. Most recently Harold had enjoyed buying and selling on E-Bay.
Harold was the brother of the late Robert, Donald, Lester, Gordon, Walter and his twin brother Howard Jones and Millicent Gagliardi.
Survivors in addition to his wife include his children Catherine (Steven) Phillips of Berlin, Howard Jones of Berlin, Andre (Betty) Jones of Grafton, Paula (Don) Dixon of Berlin, Robin (Ronald) Jacobs of Berlin his sister Madeline (Ronald) Henrickson of Wynantskill, 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday September 6 at the Perry-Komdat Funeral Chapel 2691 NY 43 at Glass Lake Averill Park.
Interment with Military Honors will be private at the Gerald Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
Due to the limitation of flowers allowed at the Cemetery the family would prefer donations in memory of Harold D. Jones be made to the Berlin Rescue Squad PO Box 269 Berlin, NY 12022.
