Averill Park- Gregory S. Colburn, 62, of Burden Lake Road passed away on Saturday, March 11, 2023 at his residence surrounded by his family after a long illness. Born in Ilion, NY, Greg was the son of Irene Partridge Cummings of Greenville, the late Carl Star Colburn and the beloved husband for 41 years to April Wieninger Colburn. Greg grew up in Schodack and Niverville and was a 1978 graduate of Ichabod Crane High School. Greg worked for container companies before staring his own Capitol Container Corp. in Albany. Greg enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing. He enjoyed “tinkering” with small engines and the time he spent with his daughters and grandchildren. Greg was a member of the Church of the Covenant in Averill Park where he served as a trustee and headed up the clean up crew for the church’s annual Christmas Bazaar.
Survivors in addition to his wife and mother includes has daughters Melinda (Aaron) With of Averill Park, Amanda (Sebastian) Modelowski of Saratoga and Nicole Colburn of Averill Park, his brother Jeffrey (Sharon) Colburn of Mt. Vernon, NH, his sisters Cynthia Colburn of Castleton and Kelly (Rich) Covell of Grafton, his grandchildren Sox, Elizabeth, Gabriella With and Kyrin Wilcox along with several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call 4-6:30 pm on Friday, March 17 at the Perry-Komdat Funeral Chapel 2691 NY 43 at Glass Lake Averill Park followed by a funeral service at 6:30 pm.
An Interment Service will be held 10:30 am on Saturday, March 18 at the Elmwood Cemetery Rte. 150 at Shaver Road, West Sand Lake, NY.
Greg’s family ask that donations in his memory be made to the Community Hospice, Gift Processing Center 310 So. Manning Blvd, Albany, NY 12208 or the Church of the Covenant United Methodist PO Box 306 Averill Park, NY 12018.
