Gordon G. Shepard

West Stephentown- Gordon G. Shepard, 85, a lifelong resident of Firetower Road, passed away unexpectedly at the Collar City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on Monday, August 14, 2023. Born at home, Gordon was the son of the late Stanley A. and Mildred Salls Shepard and husband of the late Joyce Geerholt Shepard. Gordon worked for the Seagroatt Floral Company, McClintock Chevrolet and Sykes Store before having a longtime career with the Averill Park School District where he worked in the grounds department, was a janitor and a Bus Driver. He retired in 1994. Gordon was a life member of the Hoags Corners Fire Department was past president serving 12 years, captain of the Fire Police and volunteered with the Hoags Corners Ambulance. He was a past board member with the Hillside Cemetery Association, lifelong member of the West Stephentown Baptist Church, loved his pets both dogs and cats and was an avid gardener. While residing at Collar City, Gordon was president of the resident council.

Survivors include his children Deborah (Ron) Rousseau of Stephentown, Gordon (Darlene) Shepard Jr. of No. Greenbush, Wayne (Olya) Shepard of Flushing, NY, his grandchildren, Jessie (Nicole), Kevin, Nicole, Alfred, Emily and Evan and his great grandchildren Jessie Jr., Hannah and Gabriella.

Gordon was the father of the late Stanley A. Shepard and brother of the late Ralph and Robert Tooley.

Relatives and friends are invited to a Graveside service 11 am on Monday, August 21, 2023 at the Hillside Cemetery Firetower Road, West Stephentown.
