George E. Dodge

Averill Park- George E. Dodge, 89, of Miller Hill Road died on Friday, September 11,2015 after a long illness. Born in Green Island, George was the son of the late Harry and Alice LaValley Dodge, George had resided in the area most of his life and had lived in Florida from 2006-2013 when he returned to the area. George had served in the Coast Guard from 1943-1946 and had served in the Army National Guard for a number of years retiring in 1985 with a rank of Master Sergeant. George had retired in 1990 from the Troy Police Department where he had been a Patrolman for 25 years. He was the first recipient of the John Givney Memorial Award and was a life member of the Sullivan Jones VFW Post in Poestenkill.
George was the brother of the late Mary Trowbridge, Alberta Lester, Donald, Edward, Francis and Edmund Dodge and grandfather of the late Michelle Robidoux.
Survivors include his children Mary Lou (Michael) Robidoux of Averill Park, Donna (Robert) Geerholt of Ormond Beach, FL., George (Alison) Dodge Jr. of Pennsville, NJ,
Carolyn Clark of Germantown, NY and Arthur (Carol) Dodge of Ormond Beach, Fl, his former wife Mary Eleanor Demers, his brother Robert Dodge, sisters, Reine Parker, Laura Prokym and Mildred Heid, his grandchildren Robert Volinsky, William Barbour, Mandy Black, John Wright, Kayla Clark, Brandon Dodge and Jessie Lee Dodge and his four legged faithful companion Shadow.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass 10:30 a.m. on Friday September 18, 2015 at St. Henry’s Church 39 Old Rte. 66 Averill Park. There will be no public calling hours.
