Sand Lake- Frederick E. Nichols Sr., 82, of Walk Road a longtime resident of Washington Street in Troy, died on Tuesday, June 13, 2023 at his residence after a long illness. Born in Troy, Fred was the son of the late Lawrence and Mary Bulson Nichols and the husband of the late Velma “Jackie” Nichols. Fred was a self-employed carpenter for many years. He was an avid hunter and gardener, enjoyed Salmon fishing and the time he spent with his family at their family hideaway in Taborton.
Fred was the father of the late Frederick E. Nichols Jr. and David Nichols, Sr. and brother of the late Larry, Ronald, Mike, Anthony, Geraldine, Donald, and Rita.
Survivors include his children Michael Nichols of Clifton Park, Katherine (Edward) Duffy Darmetko and Joseph (Kristin) Nichols sr. both of Troy, Andrew Nichols of Clifton Park, Daniel (Krista) Nichols of Sand Lake and Robert (Kindra) Nichols of Maplewood, his brothers Joseph Nichols of Brunswick and Leonard Nichols of Florida a sister Penny O’Dell of Vermont and Virginia Fox along with 16 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call 4-6:30 pm on Monday, June 19, 2023 at the Perry-Komdat Funeral Chapel 2691 NY 43 at Glass Lake, Averill Park followed by a service at 6:30.
A Graveside service will be at 10 am Tuesday, June 20, 2023 at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Troy, NY.
