Hoags Corners- Elizabeth L. Senter, 82, of Dunham Hollow Road, East Nassau, died on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at the Evergreen Commons Nursing Facility in the presence of her brothers and family after a long illness. Born in Long Island City, NY, Betty was the daughter of the late Stephen and Margaret Prince Lukovits and wife of the late John W. Senter. The Lukovits family moved to the area when Betty was an infant.
Betty was a skilled draftsperson for the NYS DOT in Albany for many years and had resided on Staples Road in Stephentown during her marriage.
Betty enjoyed owning several horses and many other animals throughout her life. She was a communicant of St. Henry’s Church in Averill Park.  She was a member and attended many activities at the American Meditation Institute in Averill Park. Betty was a skilled equine artist and left behind many beautiful oil paintings sought after by the public.
Survivors include her brothers Deacon Frank S. (Anne) Lukovits of Hoags Corners and Stephen P. (Barbara) Lukovits of Windsor, CT, six nieces and nephews, Beth Nardacci, Frank J. Lukovits and Timothy Lukovits; Joseph, James and Michael Lukovits and several grandnieces, nephews and cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to a Funeral Mass 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 3, at St. Henry’s Church 39 Old Rte. 66 Averill Park. Interment will follow at St. Henry’s Cemetery.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff at Evergreen Commons, particularly to
Annette Ferrero, RN, and to Betty’s neighbor, Gary Callahan, who devoted many hours feeding Betty’s cats and her wood stove during winter months. And a special note of gratitude to Edna Senter who did six months of home care for Betty prior to the Nursing Home.
If desired donations may be made to The Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, 3 Oakland Ave., Menands, NY 12204 in lieu of flowers.
