Sand Lake - Edward J. Weber, 79, of Taborton Road passed away on Monday October 14, 2024 at the Samaritan Hospital in Troy after a short illness.

Born in Albany, Ed was the son of the late Otto and Mary Roche Weber and the beloved husband of Ellisa R. Cronauer Weber. Ed was a lifelong resident of the area and a 1963 graduate of the Averill Park High School. Upon graduation, Ed began his career at Manufacturers National Bank(MNB), then was proud to serve his Country in the Air Force from 1964 to 1968, and enjoyed regaling willing ears with his experiences over a cup of coffee.

Ed then returned to MNB before joining the former Duffers Associates in Poestenkill, then at Weiss & Ventor Land Surveyors in West Sand Lake. He served on the Sand Lake Police Department until their closing and then went to the Poestenkill Police Department until that Department was dissolved. Ed worked with considerable knowledge, and ever-present charm for the Town of Sand Lake where he was a building inspector and continued at the NYS Dept. of State before going to the NYS Thruway Authority in the mid 1990’s, retiring in 2010 as a Deputy Director of Facilities in Albany.

Ed enjoyed escaping to the quiet and pristine beauty of Lake Eaton in the Adirondacks, and spent as much time camping, boating, fishing, hunting, and skiing as telling tall tales of his great outdoor adventures. Ed served his community as a life member of the Taborton Fire Company and had functioned as a commissioner along with other positions in the department. In recent years Ed enjoyed remaining active in his high school alumni class activities, and from his perch on the front porch of his cherished house on the mountain, kept up with the surrounding community and many visitors.

In addition to his wife, survivors include his son Edward J. (Kelley) Weber of Halfmoon, his daughter Mary Weber of Sand Lake, his sister Barbara Loud of Seaford, DE, his grandchildren Isabella, Hunter Otto, and Nicholas Daniel Weber and his great grandson Remington Edward Doran. Ed was the brother of the late M. Diane Weber.
