Edith J. Horton-Beach

Averill Park- Edith J. Horton-Beach, 85, of Bon Acre Way was welcomed home to her Lord on Monday, June 24, 2024 after a period of declining health. Born in North Pelham, NY, Edie was the daughter of the late Sven and Violet VanHorne Jansson and wife of the late Lewis D. Horton and Harry W. Beach. Edie’sfamily moved to the area many years ago and Edie was a graduate of the Averill Park High School. She had retired in 2004 from the New York State Retired Teachers Association where she had been an Executive Office Manager. Edith was a former member of the Sand Lake Baptist Church where she served on various boards and committees and was a current member of the West Stephentown Baptist Church. Edie was a longtime member and secretary of the Stephentown Seniors. She loved family get-togethers: her friends, church family, music, singing and square dancing. Her goal in life was to live by the Golden Rule which was taught to her in the 2nd grade.

Edie was the sister of the late Jennie Justus, Florence Wheland, William R., Richard P., and Ernest W. Jansson and her nephew Charles F. Justus.

Survivors include her sons Wayde A. (Lorraine) and Todd A.(Mary) Horton, her sister Mary N. Comac, her brothers Rudolph Wesley and David A. Jansson, her grandchildren Daniel (Chrystal) Horton, Stacey Horton, Kellie (Brian) Stock and Michael (Jayden) Denbo, her great grandchildren Gabriel and Rowan Horton, Mackenzie and Caleb Stock and many muchloved nieces and nephews who brightened her life. She is also survived by her BFF Linda M. Biittig.

Relatives and friends are invited and may call 9-11 am on Saturday June 29, 2024 at the West Stephentown Baptist Church 1672 NY 43 west Stephentown, NY followed by a service at 11 am.

Interment will take place following the service at the Hillside Cemetery, West Stephentown.
