Brunswick- Donald Gerard Doin, 80, passed away peacefully on March 24, 2023 surrounded by his family. Donald was born in Troy, NY on January 21,1943, son of the late Armand and Catherine Bulmer Doin. Later, the family moved to Averill Park, NY.
Donald enlisted in the US Marine Corp. from 1960-1964. He achieved the rank of Lance Corporal and served in Guam, Japan, Okinawa, Philippines and Midway. Through his service he achieved a Good Conduct Medal 1st Award; Rifle Sharpshooters Badge M-14; and the Pistol Marksmanship Badge. Upon his honorable discharge in 1966 from the reserves, Donald worked at Doin’s Auto Wrecking with his family. Later he found his passion in woodworking, antiques and owned and operated The White Lilly Lodge Auction House in Cropseyville, NY.
He is survived by his loving children Tammy Woodward, Todd Doin, Donny Doin Jr., and Diane (Paul) Hladik, his grandchildren, Nicholas Hladik, Kelsey (Kevin) Kennedy and Jenna Doin, his sisters Catherine Bradley, Doreen (Joseph) Schultz, Donna Doin and Dolores Meissner as well as many nieces and nephews. Donald was the brother of the late Armand Doin Jr. and Anne Hicks.
Don was fun loving and had a great love for Genesee Beer. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to a graveside service with military honors, 11 AM on Monday, April 10 at St. Jean de Baptiste Cemetery Spring Ave. Extension Troy, NY.
