Alice L. Castagnier

Poestenkill- Alice L. (Palmer) Castagnier of Snake Hill Road died on Monday, November 4, 2024 at the Grand at Guilderland after a battle with Myeloid Leukemia.

Alice was the daughter of the late Hester and her stepfather, Donald Dustin, of Poestenkill and her father, the late Paul Palmer of Troy. Alice graduated from Averill Park Central School and attended HVCC. She retired from Samaritan Hospital after 30 years of service in the positions of EKG/EEG Technologist, Office Supervisor for the Laboratories and later as a Human Resource Associate. She was very active in her community and involved with her sons in their activities, serving as President of PTA and Cub/Boy Scout leader. Music was always in her soul - played the piano and made sure her sons appreciated the sound of music. They all played instruments and performed in shows and musicals. Later through her employer, she was an active member of the Business and Professional Women of Rensselaer County, Employee Helping Fund and on the board of the Employee Credit Union. She was honored by her peers with the annual Employee of the Year Award. She currently was a member of the Poestenkill Historical Society and the "Friends" of the Poestenkill Library.

 Alice leaves behind her loving and dedicated husband of 64 years, Ronald Castagnier of Poestenkill. Her sons and their wives are Brian and Susan (Komertz) Castagnier of Cohoes, New York and David and Lori (Urban) Castagnier of Mineral Bluff, Georgia. She leaves her precious Castagnier grandchildren, Jamie Castagnier (Mondel Mauzon), Nicole Castagnier Urbon (Mike Urbon), David and Jeffrey Castagnier and her great grandson Zaveon Rivera. Also, she leaves her darling little dachshund Cassie Sue.

 She is survived by her devoted brother Pastor Allen Dustin and his wife Carol of Castleton, her sisters-in-law Cathy Castagnier of Watertown, NY, and MaryJo Castagnier Mann of Albuquerque, NM. Alice was the aunt of Mark Schiesser, Kim Castagnier, Jodi Castagnier Reichard, Ann Mordsfeld Provencher and Rene Mordsfeld Carr. Alice was predeceased by her beloved sister Donna Dustin Schiesser of Poestenkill, NY., and her beloved son Stephen Castagnier of Albany, NY

 Services will be private for family at the Perry-Komdat Funeral Chapel followed by interment at the Poestenkill Brookside Cemetery.

As Alice loved all animals (especially her doggies through all the years) she was a dedicated supporter of the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society. Any memorials in Alice's name will be appreciated to this wonderful organization.
